They Come and Go
They come and go
Passers-by
They stop to refuel and then go on their way
Some stay a little longer to browse
Shop
Getting to know the locals
Then they disappear into the highway
Some stay awhile
Make friends
They begin to thrive in this strange town
Calling it a home
And then one day, just as they came in
They vanish into the night
They come and go
These travelers
Traversing the universe
Sharing stories and telling tales
And the shop keepers
With wanderlust
Wonder what’s beyond
Imagining big cites
Wide-open spaces
Hills and valleys
Lakes and rivers
Mountain ranges in the distance
and then they go...
This town, is a lonely town
Except for the ghosts
Of those who came and went
