We are all weeds
You can take my body
but not my soul
You can make me cry
but I'll laugh again
You can clip my wings
but my spirit will soar
My soul is a weed
that grows in poor soil
I thrive in the cold
and live for the heat,
and my tears fall like rain
to water my roots
I am wild and free
even though I choose this cage
I am just me
and will never plead
a weed in the garden of Eden
but a lovely weed
to make the flowers jealous
but not my soul
You can make me cry
but I'll laugh again
You can clip my wings
but my spirit will soar
My soul is a weed
that grows in poor soil
I thrive in the cold
and live for the heat,
and my tears fall like rain
to water my roots
I am wild and free
even though I choose this cage
I am just me
and will never plead
a weed in the garden of Eden
but a lovely weed
to make the flowers jealous
