Fears.

I love when I can travel by air,
Already lost in dreams,
All the new sites to see
Or the old ones to revisit.
Not a care in the world
Disregarding the fact
That I am renting a seat
Going over an ocean at
Thirty thousand feet.
But I totally dislike the idea
Of being aboard a giant vessel
Crossing the same ocean.
As storms rise, who knows what can happen.
Never mind that these monsters of the seas
Will not sink.
Well, barring the infamous case of the Costa Concordia
Who blew it close to shore, resulting in a huge mess
And many deaths, thanks to the stupidity and nonchalance
Of its captain.
That disastrous event occured swimming distance from shore.
I don't relish the idea of some  disaster of Titanic proportion
Occuring in the middle of the ocean.
And there are sharks out there.
I will stick to my love of air travel.

Author's Note
i once went from England to Kristiansand, Norway by the ferry, a twelve hour hop. I used to drink, and a fellow who looooooved Canada kept pouring me drinks.  As I had not reserved a cabin, I slept in open air on the deck. I think I am still thankful to my lucky star that I did not roll over and dropped in the sea...
