The Phantom Lover
I add cream to my coffee to find my heart has contradicted and confused me again.
The pain swirls around until it’s all absorbed through and through.
As I lick my spoon I sigh the discomfort and dejection from my mind.
I couldn’t hide my affection and accompanying attraction.
I shouldn’t have said anything.
None-the-less, I’ll move on cuz that’s what I do.
I know I’m still worthy of my own love.
That’s the most important and amazing anyway.
I still love me.
My ego says I’m brilliant.
As the caffeine kicks in it becomes my stimulating ally and my confidant.
Artificial euphoria in a cup.
I am invigorated once again.
I love it!
