one shot twice dead
She always imagined love as a kind thing
Caring and romantic
When she turned five that view changed
Her mother remarried
No one loved her then
Her own mother

Into a hole that she could never dig herself out of
Her new daddy hated her every being
As if she were there to only cause him grief
She never did anything wrong in her lifetime
She was only born and was never asked to be born,
Never taught how to do the things she did
She only knew.
Years passed and she barely knew how old she was
School was in and out for her
She tried as hard as she could
Straight A's were never enough
She tried to do ever sport to get away
She won awards and had a job
But,
when she went home she was never treated with respect
Never held
Hugged
Kissed gently
Or talked to
She had an older step brother who lived with them
He was the only one who bothered with her
He was the only one who cared
He knew her inside and out
Never said a mean word to her
The step father adopted him as a baby with his ex wife
When she died and he remarried he was taken with
He never knew the hardship she knew
He was spoiled by them both
She was kicked by them both
If there was ever a time she was praised
It was when case workers came by to ask why she was always bruised
Sports took some of the blame
Other times she was clumsy
No one knew that she was made to do everything
She was made to sleep with her step father on occasion when he was drunk
Her step brother asked for her one night
Her parents obliged and left
When she went into his room scared he only talked to her
Made her feel human for a few days
She slept some times
cried in his arms others
They never stopped touching
Never a bad touch
He promised her that they would never be like this
Never cruel to each other as their parents
She never called them that anymore
Not after her mother screamed a confession at her
She was a twenty thousand dollar child
A surrogate mother held her in womb for 9 months
She was nothing to her mother but a burden of finances
2 Months before she was eighteen and almost ready for college her step brother told her they were running away that night
Going away to live with his real family
She nodded and ran to get some stuff
His father had been listening on the other side of the wall at their whispers
A gun was held in his hand as he swayed in a drunk stupor
She cried when she saw him standing there in front of the door
Her love grabbed her and shielded her from harm
They were meant for love and to be loved by one another
He fired the gun
It hit her love in the shoulder and her through the heart
She fell to the ground gasping and coughing
Her love cried out and flew at his father looking for blood
As she held onto life he wrested to take one
They fought as her mother called the cops to report a fight
Not the dying daughter on the ground at her feet
"A pity you were never a better daughter. Maybe he would have kept you." She walked away from her then and there
Her love was never able to kill his father,
The police showed up and separated them
An ambulance came for her and rushed her away
Her love was dying next to her
His heart was giving out even though his injuries were not fatal
She was dying next to him as hers were
He died because of his breaking heart
She died from a broken soul
They met on the planes of death and walked together to the oasis that they were meant to be at.
