down, apparently, to progress ..

Ya, Times are changing. For the best sometimes. I live right in front of Montreal's Big O (The Olympic Stadium) . They are ''remaking'' that street all over: wider side-walks, bycicle path, so only one lane each way for cars.... Property values up and up... And of course, nearer town center, condo towers everywhere. You wonder where ''normal people'' are going to live.

Few ideas have changed the world as much as the idea of 'progress' (assumed to be linear progress) ... but the demise of ancient civilisations suggests that the idea of 'cyclicality' may yet have another resurgence..
