A thanksgiving prayer

Each will find, his own festival ideal
the joy to ride the heights, as on a Ferris Wheel
to join the celebration, give respect and kneel
remember all those gone before, to be revered

Gods silver service, hid behind the clouds
the years of conflict that weaved the silken thread
spilt the blood ,of those that lie beneath the shroud
lost courage, where we owe a lasting debt

Warm hands each crossed upon the heart
days of anticipation, appreciation, just to partake
gratitude for life's gifts, wishes all earmarked
the precious icing is faith upon the cake

The creature comforts we shower on our lives
snug PJ's, pleasures drugs to suit all tastes
burning hearth, warming food and friends arrived
the Founding Fathers laid the blocks, to lay upon our plates

Now the time, to say your grace in hearty thanks
that you still have the gift of choice
diversity is a rainbow, if we don't close our ranks
just join our hands and sing with just one voice

Be ours to graciously accept with prayer
a table weighed with trust and hope displayed
Thanksgivings truer meanings, when it's shared
sustenance for the spirit, we all crave
