I guess it goes without mentioning
That I'm down for adventuring
And exploring things that you keep close,
The things you don't want exposed

Fighting to keep it hidden
The foundation of your beginning
Because it's so painful to see
The misguided soul you used to be

The mistakes that you made
Were your lessons along the way
And you can't fix all that's wrong
Because lingering back won't move you along

People heal at their own pace
And sometimes it's best to give space
They'll talk to you when they're ready
But in the meantime, your heart is heavy

It's all a part of growing
And it's comforting just knowing
That you learned from your faulted past
But some people don't heal that fast

And seeing how hard you strive
To keep a damaged connection alive
When it's entirely on one side
But your passion's flame won't subside


It's really admirable to see
Someone who cares so deeply
For someone who doesn't want to understand
Because they never knew you firsthand

Someone who was heavily guarded
Digging wasn't for the feint hearted
And surely they thought they knew the truth
Because you only showed them a part of you
