accelerating, moving faster
escaping quickly from disaster
into the unknown far away,
the planets of Centaurus A

Proxima fading out of sight
faster than the speed of light,
an unexpected red star nova,
faster faster in a rover

designed for a trip to Earth
moving now for all its worth
through the plasma in between
where we go and where we've been

days slip by as we come nearer
all the scans becoming clearer
a water world, it's blue and white
a beautiful and welcome sight

civilization 3.3
seems to thrive there blissfully
unaware that we're arriving,
first contact made as we are diving

into their atmosphere
accompanied by aircraft near
as we find a spot to land
