Belly Button Theory
Some people have belly buttons
that look like a smile
others seem to frown
and before you start checking
let me say
this is only a theory
not based on science
For some reason
every couple of days
my belly button
fills up with dust
I don't know how it happens
but if I collected
all that fluff for a year
I'm sure it would
choke the hoover
more than once
Maybe if I gathered it all up
I could grow belly button
mushrooms with it
Maybe that's what
belly buttons are really for
Mom never told me about
the agricultural potential
in my belly button
She only said
washing behind your ears
stops the potatoes growing there
but that was a long time ago
And I'm still waiting
for something to happen
after I swallowed
those apple pips
There's no sign of a tree
inside me yet
My sister warned me
about those
It was the same time
she said aliens got no belly buttons
on their bodies at all
I'm not sure about that one though

A little cutesy at first, this poem soon comes into it's own as a strange and very amusing little ditty, though all talk of belly button fluff makes me queasy! You're a marvellous comedian. I was surprised to see you used the term "mom" instead of "mum", but then as I don't know anything about you I don't see why I should have been.

That made me laugh out loud, i would love to write a long funny poem, but i think it would become boring for others.

You should try and do funny cos I already know you have a sharp sense of humour, Riyah - if what you write makes you laugh then it's probably funny for others too. Nothing ventured - nothing gained.

You could even start a thread with your own contribution to see how everyone tackles humour (when the mirror's closed of course).
