Black Cat

I hear...
hymns down corridors
from the faceless nuns
that haunt my dreams

feet don't touch
the antiseptic floors
as the moon rises
I hear...
them rapping at the door

is it the wind that
I hear...
or is something sinister
waiting outside in the walls
tapping down the stone halls

yellow eyes glare
from the corner of my room
as I'm stalked by shadows
I hear...
rustling in the darkness
to seal my doom

the hymns get louder
a tussle of wind blowing
outside my window
I hear...

like silk I feel on my legs
as she shows
her ownership to me..
as I turn in the corner
I hear...
a light purr

and see her yellow eyes
staring back at me...

Author's Note
We have an outdoor stray cat...that we call Virginia Slim..she is a black cat...and she is very beautiful...I wanted to heighten the suspense why I used the ghostly metaphors..I really do enjoy this time of year though
