Act

The rule of an author isn’t new
I
Have
To
Kill
You
“Kill your darlings”, they say; it’s true
So, I gotta do what I gotta do
...not because I want to
But, because I have to.
Darling, ....you;
Broke a constellation of promises, so, I promise to;
Give your life an ‘undo’.
How will I end you?...
Oh, I wish I knew.
I can leave you bloated, black & blue...
I can conjure a catastrophe you’ll fall unto...
Or, blade to bone, I can slice right through...
And, just for you,
I can pencil in a bumbling gumshoe...
The kind that never finds a clue...

Oh, but darling, it goes against my will
...to leave you halved & twitching in a sawmill
...to see your fleshy bits charring on a charcoal grill
But, darling- this pens ink won’t stop until;
you wretch from eating a poison pill
And I won’t garner the slightest thrill,
when you’re slashed open & your guts spill
when you’re decomposing in a landfill
I’ll adorn your body with a daffodil.
I will lay to rest this empty quill.

My fresh eyes see this world anew.
Goodbye darling...that was due.
