Sunflower Kachina seeks a way to blossom
On seventh-floor tenement hall
Finds Hopi artist whose canvas
Is an elemental being
Whose earthen wind meanders
In the desert of gypsum light on fire
With the parade of a thousand torchbearers
On their way to a land beyond tears
Whose path gathers sunken treasures
Buried deep in the sands of clockwork
Where ancestral bones form antiquarian deeds
For excavators of lullabies
From remembered dreams

Some dispute the word "intelligent" applied to plants.
The way I tend to think of it is: when a person loses 1 of the 5 senses--sight, say--his others become more acute.
Now imagine losing...sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell...what would become more acute? I'm not sure what that sense leftover would be called, but plants have it in spades.
They can remember and recognize people and respond to the presence of any given individual, as well as the mental energy of any person around them, in a rational, sentient way.
Plants deprived of water and light can survive on love (I'm not kidding). And plants subjected to negative emotional energy can die, despite all biological needs being optimized.
Enjoyed this--the sand reference, in particular.
If you're interested in plants, you might enjoy "The Secret Life of Plants," 1973--a great read. And Emily Dickinson herself was an accomplished botanist!
