ROCK AND BONE
it was stone
what broke me,
the femur
like a puzzle
in a swollen pocket
of pus,
biting
like a rabid squirrel
mama say
rocks in my head
put me on that
mountain
but i say
"shit, mama,
i just want to
see something
real"
bone ain't nothin'
next to stone
but those rocks
warmed by the sun
held me
almost tender
'til the stretcher
came
what broke me,
the femur
like a puzzle
in a swollen pocket
of pus,
biting
like a rabid squirrel
mama say
rocks in my head
put me on that
mountain
but i say
"shit, mama,
i just want to
see something
real"
bone ain't nothin'
next to stone
but those rocks
warmed by the sun
held me
almost tender
'til the stretcher
came
