Scars
The truth in scars
Created to bleed out the external evidence of internal pain
In weird fascination telling their ominous story
Embossed on the skin
Catching sight of the secrets they hold
Created to bleed out the external evidence of internal pain
In weird fascination telling their ominous story
Embossed on the skin
Catching sight of the secrets they hold

You said it powerfully and concisely. I have done this (in a rather embarrassingly old age group) but have stopped. All of our scars tell stories though. There's one on my knee from when I fell over in Reception class aged about 5, and a four-inch one on my left elbow from a reconstruction surgery. I could go on. Good work.

That's a beautiful and wonderful message. Our scars, visible and invisible, tell the stories of our lives.

I have my twentieth surgery coming up in October, this will be the first scar that people will see. The past and the present are real but they both heal.
I really like your work.

That's a wonderful yet humbling compliment, poetess. Thank you for those kind words.

I’m littered with scars; some, more visible than others but I like the way you’ve been able to translate such notions in your write !

Re: Re. Scars
Scars do come with their own histories. They all are unique for each one of us.
Keep well and thanks for your comments.

Lovely brevity, the external, evidence gorgeous alliteration and the choice of "embossed " captured a scar perfectly.

That's a great quote "the best people all have some kind of scar." This reminds me of one I did not to long ago. "Don't hide your scars". There is definitely truth in scars. "Created to bleed out the external evidence of internal pain" is such an incredible line. That is so true and they do tell a story, especially the ones not visible on the skin. They hold so many secrets. Some things you just never want to share but somehow it always finds ways of being seen. The effects of these scars...

Wow !!!
It's so surprising to have you bring this one up. It's been completely forgotten.
Thanks for reminding me, there are many invisible scars we all carry as people.
This was a good start for you to reach for this one in the archives.

Don't say I didn't warn you but don't shoot the messenger for revealing to you that it's all going downhill from here.
I'm paraphrasing a quote which said something about "this is either being the setting of a very high bar or the beginning of a bad joke."
You'll soon find that out for yourself.
