belladonna
silently I keen inside of the noise
I looked to you to see if you heard my heartbreak
the daffodils under our windowsill did
they look on quietly at the beautiful day shaded in pain
in our garden that grew for so many years darkness crept in
belladonna threatened my hope
you met someone else
my soul smelled your honesty
you were leaving
your aftershave the one you wore when we met
linger on the air
you pick up your hat ready to go
stirring a few dust motes
they dance in the room then settled
my sorrow felt only by the furniture
as I curl into a ball and wept
big tears escape me then
I bit my tongue hoping to stop the words,
