Quarantine Getaway
She said, let’s go camping
it’ll be fun
by the light of the moon
maybe i’ll show you my bum
he thought, that’s not fair
whose brain can rationalize
saying no to sex outdoors
under moonlit skies
and, after all, it was her idea
how could he miss
fill up the barrel boys
I’m gunning for fish
standing in the kitchen
when it struck - we don’t own a tent
a camp stove, or sleeping bags
suppose those are for rent
in mid ponder she strolled in
a bottle of wine, wearing only a grin
he did a double take, then looked again
his mind working hard to comprehend
babe what about the camping trip
she said I’ve consulted the stars
the full moons not for weeks
and well, here i am and there you are
and maybe we don’t need the mosquitoes
the poison ivy or the ticks
we can run naked through the sprinklers
and still get our kicks
we’ll drag out that old air mattress
the one your mom says is too hard
and get back to nature
right here in our own backyard
make love in the flowerbeds
get off on the dew kissed grass
the neighbors won’t know who we are
because we’ll be wearing our masks
and to sweeten the deal
maybe even seal it with a kiss
sometime in the weekend darkness
I’ll check something off your bucket list
it’ll be fun
by the light of the moon
maybe i’ll show you my bum
he thought, that’s not fair
whose brain can rationalize
saying no to sex outdoors
under moonlit skies
and, after all, it was her idea
how could he miss
