Lake of Stars
You could be 2 hours and 37 minutes
Away
You could be 4 hundred miles
Instead of three blocks
Away
But the next time you’re here
You’ve just got to see the stars
Hear the daytime thunder
Watch the ripples on the lake
Up close
Real close
Fingers trailing the water
Until the storm forces us to leave
Seek shelter
Under the cover of laughter
And we’ll wait
For the skies to clear
So the stars can shine
On those nights
When you aren’t 2 hours and 37 minutes
Away
