In the Shape of Each Other

“In the Shape of Each Other”

It is just that I am dreaming,
I will not be afraid.
Where hollow light is streaming
The night begins to fade.

And stranger hearts than thine,
Like this broken heart of mine,
Are slain by all that was not said:
Kissed to death by tears unshed.

In the shape of each other,
Our angels rise from Hell
To say if ever I was your lover,
This alas! still would be farewell.

Ripples on the waters, so clear—
Beyond the swaying leaves.
Forever I shall be dreaming here
Where nothing breathes.

And stranger lips than mine,
Have taken of the wine.
I am afraid and it is cold
Without your hand to hold.

We could be one and all together,
Your heartbeat in mine forever
If one day you should discover
That we are in the shape of each other.
