Half a Bottle In
Half a bottle in
And the dogs are barking
Abandoned by their owners
Hungry for love
Like all of us
They have their duties
And loyalties
And hates too
Cats, burglars
A godless moon
Enjoy a game
A little attention
Good food & clean water
A roof over their heads
Shelter from sun & rain
Simple needs
A wash now & then
Walks if they’re lucky
Beach if they’re pampered
Tongues licking the air
Stolen from mothers
Sold & traded off
Siblings but memories
They cry out &
Some of us hear them
And the dogs are barking
Abandoned by their owners
Hungry for love
Like all of us
They have their duties
And loyalties
And hates too
Cats, burglars
A godless moon
Enjoy a game
A little attention
Good food & clean water
A roof over their heads
Shelter from sun & rain
Simple needs
A wash now & then
Walks if they’re lucky
Beach if they’re pampered
Tongues licking the air
Stolen from mothers
Sold & traded off
Siblings but memories
They cry out &
Some of us hear them
