Tonight
As the night sky intertwines with the cold, the lights starts to dance throughout the city like fireflies, only shining momentarily, following the lead of time, as it gradually tiptoes onwards. And yet as the lights fade, a certain type of calmness befalls my mind.
As I sit, outside, with the cold as a blanket, I sense an overwhelming peace, knowing that the colder it gets, life surrounding me retreats away, and slowly loneliness will keep me company, along with nostalgia replaying short flickers of home.
And as I sink deeper into the night, my mind dawdles along with time, the cold hugging me, the stars lighting the way with the grass parted to carve a path for me to quietly walk amongst the trees. But once again I am reminded that life will return once more but tonight, at this moment in time, it'll be just me.
