My Mother’s Love
I never realized all that you gave
With unconditional love
I never realized all the sacrifices you made
You held me when I was afraid
With the softness of a glove
I never realized all that you gave
Your strength made me behave
With heavenly hands from above
I never realized all the sacrifices you made
You taught my heart to be brave
With compassion thereof
I never realized all that you gave
You showed me only God can save
With devotion of a turtle dove
I never realized all the sacrifices you made
I still feel you but not the grave
With memories my children speak of

I really enjoyed it.
I've come to believe having children & raising them--going from being physically one with the fetus, having it grow from you, to the process of letting go & loving from a place of separate-ness, as a distinct person filled with the deepest love for another--is necessary step in the spiritual development for most women. It's a spiritual transformation I believe gets taken for granted, by both the mothers who undergo it, as well as others.

This is definitely a beautiful, heartfelt, and touching tribute. I love the rhyming too. It can be difficult to truly capture the sacrifices and love of a mother but you have done such a lovely job in doing just that. :) x
