Autumn Whispers

The sun burns brightly in the sky
while Summer continues its sultry stay.
Parched grasses sway and seem to sigh
As night soon overcomes the day.

Condensation drips down crystal glass
Inside which cold liquid swirls.
The taste of soda seems a little crisper
As we hear the faint Autumn Whispers.

Reassuring us with sudden coolness on the wind
Autumn will soon be here again.
Shorts and bikinis give way to sweaters and boots,
I feel my soul stirring deep within its roots.

Soon, Summer will have to give up her reign
Her molten gold sunrises wane into dusk,
Allowing Autumn to breathe to life once again.
