Bewildered

For a change the whole of England was rejoicing,
About those 2 goals our players were scoring.
All of a sudden everyone was united,
Nothing at all could ever divide us.
But hang on and please just wait a sec,
There's this thought that's running round my head.
People suddenly flying the flag for players on the field,
For a game of footie, but what about for our soldiers on the battlefields?
Those geezers that run around on a pitch,
Feeling hard done by as they got a stitch.
How do they compare to our troops overseas?
The chasm between their wages just baffles me.
Football players fears include being caught offside,
What's that compared to soldiers whose comrades have died?
Yes it's great we've come together as a nation,
But for supporting players instead of soldiers? I need an explanation.
Honestly, how do the 2 compare?
1 kicks a ball, the other risks their life it ain't fair.
