The Well-Traveled, Well-Loved Skin She’s In
rolling thunder,
its sultry voice
the fingertips of gods
and lustful men ~
surveyors of her
landscape, feminine
curvatures carved, their
definition leaving scars
on thighs and folds
in bas relief, grooves
digging into what was
once fertile fields now
baring nought
but ripe, gritty truth
on full display;
and blushing wisdom ~
the fullness of knowing
and still wanting
to be wanted; wanton
anticipation
sighs upon wings falling;
flutters from between
her lips, the melody
of autumn, whispering
breathy escapades
across early morning rain

What you described, as i read it, is what makes beauty, beauty. Sans the men itself in their infliction. But the receiver and their duration to wear the life, you in particular, have lived.
There is nothing uglier than flawless. No story had for poetry to be exclaimed about. No scars of adventure against the boring that is flawless skin. No depth lived for wisdom gained.
Take that, and surround it by your capability to express your thoughts in the detailed versions that you do, and I'd argue that there is nothing more desirable than that. You provide your own proof to everyone else of how gorgeous you are. Through and through.

'Beauty' was in my mind before I read the first comment. A well loved, well travelled, well lived body can have a beauty of its own, especially if one is turned on by experience.

Dear L,
There is such a grace in accepting the beauty of the body we’re given. I am the worst to try to comment because my truth is I always criticize mine. I wish I could love the skin I’m in but I think I’m doomed. I hope to use this poem and change that around because this write is so loving in its nurture of self love.
