Numbered, Slumbered, Summery Days
1. One sunny day Sarah and I were adventuring about
2. together on our bikes, like always, and found a
3. threepence; made 1968, the year we were born. We,
4. fortunate, like it was a sign, that the past was behind, we
5. survived through some hardships, and on the eve of our
6. sixteenth birthdays we began to enjoy July. We spoke of
7. misevents; times we felt silly, fought, sometimes lied. We
8. ate pastries from neighboring bakeries after our swim. At
9. nine at night we gazed at the sky. These were summer’s freeing
10. tendencies; lazy, hazy, long and relaxing, creating stories, to
11. elevate our lives. Simplicity, as days go by.
