Battle of Will

I'm fighting my own destiny
Lost and alone, I feel so helplessly
A dream I want to fight for
When I sleep, I want to rest in peace
 
The devil creates the shadows
The boat, I grab the paddles
I cross across the waterfall
To fight my inner battles
 
I know it's not been spoken
This barrier is still unbroken
A forgotten man in a forgotten world
I throw my wish, a coin, a token
 
I have to find a way to believe
That I will see and then achieve
That I'm a hero in the making
The hope inside I will retrieve
 
I'm on a storied quest
To search for thoughts repressed
To start a different memory
I complete the hardest test
 
To believe in what I truly am
To understand that I somehow can
Unlock the door that is forever closed
To look about and make a stand
 
So here I go and here I say
As night will come and goes the day
As I will travel across it all
And scream out loud that I'm not afraid
 
I will not stop until I find my home
I punch the wall and break the stone
To never be a fallen soul
I look at how far I've truly grown
