The only answer that comes to me is the belief that things will get better Damon. Without vision the people perish. Black people have suffered so much at the hands of white supremacy, and still are in many ways. However, that suffering did not prevent your people from obtaining the vote. That supression did not prevent your people from becoming elected officials, even to one of the highest offices in this nation. That oppression didn't prevent you from entering front doors and sitting at the counters of restaurants, movie theaters, and so much more.

In essence, look how far you've come when you get discouraged about how far you've yet to go. You can do this, my friend. You can be a part of better days to come.

How indeed. It's tough mother out there when the cards are stacked up against you. It's a strategic game, knowing which battles to pick, but there are so many unknowns, it takes a lot of skill and confidence to make it through.
