Upon the flowers

Upon the flowers that I grew
There sits a devil who never speaks true
He turns their colors black
How can I get them back?

"If this fails you're a failure!"
Those are his words so strong
The knowledge that they're wrong
Is sometimes drowned out by the storm

The fear is deep within me
But past it I can see
That no future shame
Will make me have lived in vain

Failure is a dark noise
That can drown out everything
But it can not kill the melody
Of those who dare to sing

I like the songs that I have sung
I like the joy that I have brought
No failure takes what I have done
No failure turns it all to nought

Upon the flowers that I grew
There sits a devil who never speaks true
He turns the colors black

But I have seen the sun rise after dark nights
And instead of lowering my eyes
I look to the stars, I focus on the lights

And turn from colors black
That's how I get my colors back

Author's Note
Sometimes the fear of failure can overwhelm us because we feel like if we fail at one thing then we will be a failure, but this is not true. Sometimes we fail, but this doesn't need to define us. Keeping in perspective what we already achieved, and not letting failure taint those memories of good things and good times in our lifes, is important to stay positive.
