Quenched

I was different,
the exception to the rule,
until time ticked more slowly,
the hours with you rolled seamlessly,
& suddenly turned into a countless number of days,
sunrises shared,
sunsets spent,
you waited eagerly,
for me,
led me farther from my sanity,
deep into a fantasy,
you the main character,
with so much to say,
& I hung upon every word that left your lips,
as you bit down on mine,
sipping the light from my soul,
letting it replenish that which you had lost long ago,
you drank me up,
& with your thirst now quenched,
what do you have to say for yourself—
