Samhain
Samhain
Sofia on lacrima sofa loom
Weaves Hawthorne wreath
Into gable of golden confetti
Whose wisdom wanders
Shepherd’s trails
Across moors where banshees
Wail womanly holy hemlock
Over hectares of Hades
To be herd and heard
On Samhain sparrows
Sofia on lacrima sofa loom
Weaves Hawthorne wreath
Into gable of golden confetti
Whose wisdom wanders
Shepherd’s trails
Across moors where banshees
Wail womanly holy hemlock
Over hectares of Hades
To be herd and heard
On Samhain sparrows

Wow ... this is so rich ... so deep ... short lines ... killer line breaks ... full of ripe plump words ... echoes ... haunts ... magnificent ...

Gracias mi amiga. This was inspired by a dream I had last night about my late wife. I knew you would get this and truly love it. Coming from a poet of your stature your words mean the world to me. I wrote this in a coffee shop from which I am writing this.

Re. Samhain
I think those that have passed that come to us in our dreams, mean to comfort and soothe our souls. Ohh so gently... while we're in the suspension of sleep's arms... I feel like that's why I have had dreams of my father or ones of my oldest friend, who's passed away... I take much solace in that notion.
I enjoyed your poem, John. I could tell even before I read your additional comments, that there was an underlying impetus, an additional emotional element maybe?.... to this spill....
It was just a hunch until I read your explanations. Maybe I am a tad sensitive... 🤷🏻♀️ ;)
I thank you for sharing with us, my friend.

I've felt for a long time that you and I are sensitive to the world around us in a good way. There is so much in life that inspires deep emotion and the loss of a loved one may be the greatest. Losing my wife was the most heartbreaking experience in my life. She and I were of one being for so long. A when you lose a part of you a companion soul it is like I died myself for a while. I thank you for the depth of your feeling in this poem. The dream that inspired it was major emotional. Thank you my friend for reading me and understanding me so closely.

Wow i like the terms and things you mentioned in this extraordinary poem, they sound very poetic too. Sublime muse indeed. I think moors sound very scenic. Kudos!!

Zaynab, thank you for feeling my poem with your poet's eye. Indeed I am most happy that the way I portrayed the moors was scenic.

Cipher_O, deep gratitude. Love that you felt this on the most profound levels. This was inspired by a profoundly emotional dream about my late wife. I thank you from my heart.
