Cotton

The term genocide according to an academic only started to be used when the Holocaust occurred.
It was said by this scholar that the massacres of black people  were not termed "genocide" prior to the Holocaust.
In the UN website they say, "The first time that genocide was codified as an independent crime under international law was in the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide".
It was also quite informative to listen to Professor Lwazi Lushaba's lecture on YouTube.
It's amazing to always drink from your cup of knowledgeable insightful musings.
Without a doubt, it's an overflowing spring that keeps on giving from its source.

In review of his opinions and not meaning to sound like egalitarianism or egotistical in my observation, sir, I condemn the majority of his theories. To my understanding the first well know genocide occurred in: Carthage, 146 BC by the Romans, however, black genocide has several characterizations and cannot be vaguely composed in words or academic dialogue as just a singular source. The range is vast in comparison to relevant mistreatment and systemic cruelty that has been effective in destroying for decades the minorities’ communities or placing at citizens at a disadvantage. The We Charge Genocide petition was signed by Paul Roberson. There is an interesting speech by Malcom X called The Ballot or the Bullet you should invest your free time in listening too.

You are my newest poet!  I met you when you commented on my "zIgZaG ChAiNs."  Having fast-skimmed through your first page, I was arrested by this piece, which has a depth not immediately evident to the naked eye. Sugar, rather than cotton, was the hangnoose of the Indies, but the dragon merely had a different colour and a longer, sharper cuttingknife than its candy-less cotton sibling.

Your "Cotton is the fabric of our lives" cuts like triple-starched calico; such a poignant metaphor!  I must mention your use of a figure you will find in many of my poems:  "apron string" (my preferred spelling).  Nearly all my poems about my mother use a derivative figure, "apronsongs" -- in fact, an entire series on Mama is called "apronsongs 1...2...3," and so on.

I dig your response to Laluma.  If no one else will set the facts straignt, the poet has to do it, and without metaphor.

Thank you for a perspicacious comment, sir if you study the history of civilization, you will realize, everyone has a place in the tree of life.

Finding the respective words to speak for our past, somehow gets distorted, when we permit others to narrate our historical struggles, our mayhem, and disunity of a depraved people who have paved and been resilient through the pillars of time.
