Soul Literacy

Imagine the illiteracy of a soul
Plunged so far into the depths
Of a long road traveled
And the clink of a thousand chains
Wrought on by the moving of spirit
From the Devil himself
Rolled off the tongue
Of many an arrogant but ragged man.

Oh, the songs unheard, the divine whispers lost,
The significance of even a simple sunrise
dismissed
Before the glorious ombres have cleared the skies.
What shame in the glazed eyes that stare blankly into the soul
Of one they claim to love
Yet none the wiser to layers upon layers
Of the masterpiece
Bursting at the seams of mere flesh and blood vessels.

An industrialist at heart,
Driven by centuries of forefathers sins,
With visions of flags staked,
Towering monuments and cities,
And once heavily blessed lands
Drained into the bottomless pit
That is his award winning, heart stealing smile.
A smile that will utter pretty speeches
And decorate his miserable existence
With the most exquisite of lies.
Lies that will move with the truth felt deep in the soul
To rip physical from spiritual thread by thread
Until nothing remains.

Blessed are the humbled yet deliciously empowered
Whose threads become so interwoven like a holy tapestry
That they billow gracefully in the wind
And stand strong to the storms
That rage violently with the wrath
Of a diluted demon army of blind, angry men
And broken little children.

All of hell and it's shallow fires
Are no match to the resouvoir of ambrosial blessings
Held in the soul of one who walks with sight yet without fear.
