See it

See it
See it with your eyes
know that there are those
who will despise
you
for what you do
who your daddy is
and what you look like
then you'll hear it

hear it with your ears
hate
that you can't escape
those who's fears
resign you, condemn you
and sneer
until you feel it

feel it in your heart
pain
pain is what you stand to gain
from those who start
to you rip you apart
limb by limb
heart by heart
so you better live it

live it with your life
all the cries
and alibis
from those who fight
for loss of right
absolution and appetite
but you gotta love ‘em

love ‘em
love ‘em with your soul
you gotta love em, love em, love em unconditional

Love Lies Bleeding

Love lies bleeding
blooming in the darkest of springs
relentlessly beautiful, unforgivingly mine

Death is a killer lost in some elusive gratitude
Poised with the mock of sneering dogs on its chin
found somewhere between smug sarcasm and instinctual duty

I am the weight of tearful sorrow burdened with the inability to bargain
I course through my veins with life and the expectancy of summers spent comfortable and wild
Moving casually to the surrounding pace with increasing verve and sustain
emptying into a pool of time and memory

Hopelessly caught up in the reflection of whimpering droplets
casting out in prismatic grace the vast darkness of deepening hues
hidden beneath a spectacular display of beautiful mendacious color.

I live, I shall die
all will become evaporated and meaningless
upon and including
the landscape on which I once danced

I release the whole of it to nothing.
Nothing is
Nothing is
and transcends everything
Everything
It’s inexistence and incapable inclusion encases all parts known and unknown
bending perfectly to the perpetually positioning pose.

Moves fast like the earth
But it’s nothing, it’s not moving at all.

Cult

And that drum you follow
doesn't beat, it berates,
a diminished state awakens hate,
to a flimsy fate, tough to escape

yet you stay on that road
compacted with fear, intolerant tone,
chilled to the bone from society's moans
over razor sharp stones you fecklessly roam

and you don’t stop to rest
to sit down, look around
or hear the sounds of the battle ground
where you're bound, with no common ground

you launch your attack
irreverent and brash, without a care
at what you hold dear & senselessly adhere
for reasons elusive and unclear

as you search for some light
in the dark, only to find
yourself aligned, willfully blind,
out of time, in a world unkind,

with your defenseless cause
undefined and unstable
you fancied the fable, yourself as unlabeled
but what you've enabled, decency will disable
repudiated forever by willing and the able.

Author's Note
3 poems lasting 3 minutes, 33 seconds all set to some stellar porchy grooves!!!
First Poem - See It -1993
Second Poem - Love Lies Bleeding - 2016
Third Poem - Cult - 2021

About the music, Battered Suitcases is a burly combination of the bluesey fuzz-fueled, roaring distortion of Jimi Hendrix and the exploding riffy sonic firepower of Ron Asheton, the sheer brawn and velocity of the guitar playing is pretty untouchable. And with 2/3's of the trio being ladies, they're definitely far from a dude band.
