Pied Piper

heard him play his flute last night
calling to the children to dance
on the moors in a sliver of moonlight

his song floated across the valley
where the lillies do grow
in hypnotizing reedy monotone

rats litter the streets
far too many for a cats feast
floating on the wind like a song
from a lark

the minstrel holds the magic in his tune
listen closely child you'll be dancing
for him very soon

Author's Note
The Pied Piper of Hamlin always was quite a chilling story I found that the Brothers Grimm penned...he was there to rid the town of rat true, but after the foolish mayor denied his bounty...he used his magic to enthrall all of the children of the village...now to me that sounds like a kidnapper
