Old Oraibi

Old Oraibi

Room dreams yucca memories
Whose windblown tears of sand
Gather in smoky leaves of tea
Whose stars float in cup of sky
While eaves rattle like the gourd
Whose seeds are the rain
Upon an ancient roof

Author's Note
Old Oraibi shares the distinction along with Acoma in New Mexico as the most ancient continuously inhabited city in the U.S. It is 1000 years old. My wife and I visited it during a sandstorm.
