Pater Automobilias - Lap One

Papa had a penchant
for British automobiles
when I was just a wee lad
he drove a Morris Minor
then Uncle Jerry called to tell
what a neighbor had to sell
a steel steed much finer

Fond memory I have
traveling with dad
a long way down the 101
a seemingly magical vehicle to see
father’s mind set to own
the racing green, 1950 MG TD

Parked, rarely driven
smothered under clutter
In a garage in San Diego
my dad and his brother
unearthed the buried treasure
father with glee
hands over the dough
then back to San Jose we go
newest family member in tow

Author's Note
I loved loved my dad's MG as much as he did. He loved driving it and I loved conjuring fantastical stories about the adventures I would have that magical motocar.
