Making Wishes

We lay on blankets in the backyard  
Looking at the sky  
Trying to find shooting stars  
To make a wish and I don't know why  
Seems sort of redundant to me  
Since my wish is being with you  
And here we are  

Watching you lay back  
Your eyes so full of wonder  
Such a beautiful face  
And I admit it makes me ponder  
What it is you wish for  
Hoping your wish is being with me  
And here we are  
 
Two specks in the universe  
Two dots on the ground  
One moment of many  
Hoping for more to be found  
Making wishes  
Wishing to be with you  
Making wishes
