Poem
I can see the farther field,
Through twilight in your eyes.
I sought a separate hue.
And the world kept singing
As if the bells had stopped ringing
On the snows of my breathless gaze.
I breathed the hurt upon my lies.
Trying to be a new world was so dark.
I felt the dew upon the stars,
As though the promise of a spring in Heaven
But the sun upon my face was poison,
And the road to horizons but a dream.
In another time, before the past was new
I believed I saw the light that guides
Drowning in the river of my reason,
As though a void was brought to the waters.
A sinister serenity befell my soul:
I was glad to see hope die.
The faces around know not the sting of my haze.
I feel the sight of their secrets:
Hatred in thoughts left without voice,
As though they believe I do not know.
This is a day where the future slumbers
And the present seems so far away.
