If A Goddess Watched Us
Darling of the ocean
your stars sing brightly
through the trees
traveling past kingdom doors
beyond the moors,
to a place where the heart
no longer beats
The wind sighs~
Beloved of gentle tides
whispering into
my daughter's hair
I reached for her,
stricken...
And she became air
Floating above the ships,
she followed you
to a place daughters
can await their mothers
and bloodlines of tragedy,
of cruel, senseless cycles
are shattered
and our shackles
are severed clean
Perhaps someday there
I will see my mother
and she will forgive me
she will see her mother
and no longer grieve
Until then
I will breathe the air
above the water
and stare out into the sea
in the direction she waits for me
closure patient on the winds
of the goddess that nurtures
the waves~
Darling of the ocean,
Beloved of the gentle tide
your stars sing brightly
through the trees
traveling past kingdom doors
beyond the moors,
to a place where the heart
no longer beats
The wind sighs~
Beloved of gentle tides
whispering into
my daughter's hair
I reached for her,
stricken...
And she became air
Floating above the ships,
she followed you
to a place daughters
can await their mothers
and bloodlines of tragedy,
of cruel, senseless cycles
are shattered
and our shackles
are severed clean
Perhaps someday there
I will see my mother
and she will forgive me
she will see her mother
and no longer grieve
Until then
I will breathe the air
above the water
and stare out into the sea
in the direction she waits for me
closure patient on the winds
of the goddess that nurtures
the waves~
Darling of the ocean,
Beloved of the gentle tide
