Sleep (Anything can Happen)

Close your eyes this eve'
and gaze into the darkness,
Far beyond the shadows
into the corners of your mind

Where unicorns graze
and faeries dance
from tree to tree
Like golden hummingbirds

On Pegasus' back you fly,
chasing moonbeams 'cross starry skies
Through turns & twists & lazy eights
A sudden veer around a comet and you're

Falling, falling, falling,
you open your mouth to scream
and plunge butt-first
into a bubbly mountain stream

Tadpoles stare in wonder
at the stranger in their midst
You break the surface laughing
at summer sun's sloppy, passionate kiss

Mama grizzly waves goodbye
as you float on down the watery path
Then you're rising, rising, rising…
reaching the tips of the tallest pines

And slowly dissolving into waves of light,
merging with the energies of time itself,
whispering the secrets of the universe;
the Book of Life flutters open to reveal….

(& the alarm clock rings - DAMMIT!)

Author's Note
Generally, the first line or two comes to me and after awhile germinating in my psyche, it's only a matter of time before words spew forth into further stanzas.

Sometimes, the result is perhaps worthy of timeless poetic art.

Sometimes, it's more or less ... you know -- mostly verbal diarrhea.
All writing remains the property of the author. Don't use it for any purpose without their permission.
