The Void

There is a place within my mind where sometimes I will go,
Where horrors, dark and evil, dwell that no one needs to know,
Where sanity and reasoning are utterly destroyed.
That place is deep within myself, known simply as The Void.

The blackness is pervading, and my anguish never sleeps.
My madness running rampant with the secret that it keeps.
Where dark and twisted shadows of the memories I bear
Live deep within the gloomy halls and antechambers there.

The sound of screams surround me, and they’re all that I can hear.
And massive stones lay everywhere, like corpses on a bier.
My eyes see nothing but the sight of endless pain and dread,
And landscapes filled with rotting flesh and bodies black and dead.

My nightmares become solid there, and know that I can’t flee.
They try to catch and eat those who would dare to visit me.
The horrors deep inside my mind must never be set free,
For they are much more powerful than other people see.

I only go there when I dream; that’s nearly every night.
The shadows and the madness keep me locked within my fright.
It is a place that everyone should pray that they avoid.
I wish I could get out of here….I’m trapped within The Void.
