Hourglass

I wasn’t your future
I was only a moment
This secret I held, was one you didn’t
I knew in this hourglass of life, I was only a minute

Make out sessions in the parking lot
Sitting on the trunk and you pulling me in
For one last goodnight kiss

We talked for hours
then came those late nights together in the shower
You worshipped my body and called me your goddess
But it was only a moment, til the future moved on without us

I knew in this hourglass of life, I was only a minute
and that you’d be ok with me no longer in it

All our good memories were made before we were married
We Had nothing in common except the pain that we buried

You have loved many, I have loved few
But that’s not the only difference between me and you

We were opposite in every way
Where I saw black and white, you saw only grey
When I try to remember each moment that was only about us
I come up empty handed, there just isn’t much

But I always knew that I wasn’t your future
I was only a moment
I held on to this secret to keep us goin

I knew in this hourglass of life
I was only a minute
and I’ll be ok without you in it
