Tomorrow's Another Day
Stella Margret Summer waits patiently at the bus stop for her ride to come. Life had been rough recently, but hope remains within the silver crucifix around her neck. Alex Feng rolls up in his Silver Chevy Silverado and rolls down his window to ask her to hop in. Their relationship had been rough recently, but Alex was unwilling to part ways. “We can still make it through this, Stella,” he said, hope draining from his face. Her dark brown eyes show that it’s over, but amber streaks of hope radiate from his dark black hair. “This is the exact reason I broke up with you in the first place,” she said snappily, “I can never hang out with my friends anymore, thanks to you.” Though this kind of disagreement would never allow a normal relationship to work, this isn’t a normal relationship and these aren’t normal people. These are people of hope, people of passion, and one measly argument will not stand in the way of their true love. But a semi will. It crashes into the side of the Silverado, leaving a dent in the car, but a hole in their hearts. The pain they both received brings them closer than they ever were before, as her small frame cramps towards Alex’s body. They both lay together in the Emergency Room, Stella in critical condition, moments away from dying. “What could I have done better for you?” Alex asks, emotionally. “For starters, you could have looked both ways before going through an intersection. But on a serious note, you need to be yourself. Find your own friends, be your own person, and live life without me. Soon I will be gone, and you will have to learn how to live without me,” Stella whispers quietly, fighting for each breath. “No, no, no, no, no, no,” Alex cries, “I can never live without you, you are my only friend.” “Well maybe that’s your mistake.” Those were her final words, a message that rings in Alex’s head as he returns home, alone.
