When I first moved to my new place, I visited the neighbors, introduced myself, and gave them my phone number so they could text if anything ever happened or they needed me. For the most part, judging by the look on their face, I had sprouted another head. . .
I have had similar experiences, it's all very odd. A pal of mine moved into terrace and invited the neighbours on either side to dinner in order to introduce themselves. Although both neighbours had been there for ten plus years this was the first time they had spoken. (This was in London, though).
