Dreadful Wake
Sick with warm visions of there & Then
Linger meekly in the dreams you come to me in
Reaching out in desperate pain
To feel your kiss just once again
Fight the mourning, ignore the Light
I can touch Heaven when I close my eyes
When I must concede to that dreadful wake
Knowing a fervent wish does not a Life make
I proceed eyes open but exist in a fog
Take trips through melodies to avoid meeting you in Thought
Short moments to forget, longer ones to Pretend
That it hasn't been long since I was there when it was Then
A cruel little game the head plays with the heart
Fleeting moment of old Love before Day rips it apart
The warmth of your lips, holding secrets untold
Hands that were strangers were once again bold
Familiar unity, even now I could cry
At the beauty once felt to be by your side
I remember it all & long for Again
So I linger in every dream you come to me in...
Linger meekly in the dreams you come to me in
Reaching out in desperate pain
To feel your kiss just once again
Fight the mourning, ignore the Light
