The tricky witch

Legend has it
In a land so scattered
Among the ruins
Lying in tatters

Lives a witch
With a warty nose
And tadpoles squirming
In between her toes

Exiled from the town
To live all alone
For years amongst
The countryside she'd roam

Casting spells on
Unsuspecting men
Causing them to see
Her and the princess in an unusual tint

Images reversed
Princess was a horrid sight
While the witch
Was bathed in beauty's light

Years went by
And the princess became dismayed
No young prince would take her
To his castle to stay

They all hung around
With that awful witch
Who ate snails and worms
And had ears that twitched

The princess having had enough
Went and asked the witch her secret
The witch said "I'll help you."
With eyes glowing red

The princess agreed
And listened to the witch's proposition
Then with a wave and sprinkle of magic
They switched their positions

But this in turn
Had reversed the previous spell
The handsome young men gazed at the
Princess in the form of a witch and felt
Quite unwell

The witch of course
Took the princesses place
And found a handsome prince
Without haste

The former princess, now witch
Went raving mad
Screaming and stomping
Saying "I've been had!"

The new princess and prince
Would have none of this
"Toss this mad old woman in the
Dungeon, so we can return to our bliss."

And they lived happily ever after.
