Image for the poem mockingbird

mockingbird

tender feelings sing their own song on a winter's day
you came along mockingbird thief
stealing away dreams of a perfect day

sitting in my garden I wept for the loss
lilting in melancholy notes you didn't hear
your feelings were redder than mine

I got lost in your emotions
mine were washed away by a flood of tears
leaving me empty and forlorn of thought

I hug myself tightly, quiet in my grief
a child of scorn, you didn't notice
