What Tears Mean

What does a tear running down your face mean?
Perhaps you feel badly about hurting so many people
Or for marking so many lives in such an irreparable way
Is it remorse that causes that tear to slide down your smooth white cheek?

Or is it simply that you're sad you got caught
You never wanted to look bad and now you look like shit
In the eyes of everyone you were trying to con
There is no way to repair your own image

So now I wonder what you will do
Stay and face the music
Try to make amends though that seems an impossible task
Just stay and say you're sorry?

More likely

You will slink away like the low snake that I know you really are
To lay in wait in the tall grass of emotions
And grab another victim as he wades through a tough time in his life
Insinuate and ingratiate your way into a position of power

So that you can fuck up another bunch of lives
And try to look sorry with those tears running down your face
When once again you're caught out in a lie
I wonder why you even bother to cry
