My Love Affair (With Poetry)

Oh, God....  
I can only imagine    
what He, Himself was thinking    
the day that He created me    
Perhaps....    
It might have been    
I will make you a woman    
of courage, compassion,      
and determination    
someone  who will see the beauty    
in all things despite the ugliness    
In the world you are surrounded with    
     
And He said...    
Despite your efforts to    
resist your existence    
I will position a woman    
in the operating room    
a huge german nun    
who will help to ensure    
Your arrival in this world    
Since you insist on pushing up    
inside your mother's womb    
while she is trying to push you out    
Once the doctors efforts are futile  
I will have this nun climb up    
on your mother's belly    
and push you down and out    
so we can all celebrate your arrival    
     
And then  He might have said...    
I pick this man and this woman    
to be your loving parents    
That even though you will have    
a bit of a rocky start in life    
due to the dysfunction and chaos    
that you shall see all around you    
I will see you through all difficulty    
You will survive inspite of everything    
     
I am giving you a talent, a special gift    
to make it up to you    
I will make you a writer    
and you will see that life is worthwhile    
Though you will be  subject to much trouble    
I will have your parents introduce you    
to the fine art of writing poetry    
and this very thing will be your comfort    
Your salvation, if I may say so    
 
The seed it has been planted    
it will sprout and it will grow    
You will have a long standing    
love affair with poetry to set you free    
Perhaps then you will understand    
the choices that I made in creating you    
to become the person that you are    
Maybe, one day you may even thank me    
for the ones whom I have chosen    
to love and protect  you despite all things    
And lastly I will call you Faith    
a woman of great  courage,  
determination and strength
